New Delhi: Devastating floods brought Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai to a standstill. Millions of locals literally came on roads with their belongings with their houses washed away in the overflowing water.

Political parties, however, seem to have turned a blind eye to the pain of the common man. At least, that is what Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha's recent Baahubali poster depicts.

#ChennaiRains: 7 ways you can help flood victims

A banner put up by AIADMK workers depicts the TN Chief Minister holding a baby over water like Ramya Krishnan's character Sivagami did in the movie Baahubali. Here, the baby is depicted as Chennai which is being saved by Jayalalithaa from the devastating flood waters.

With no food, shelter, water and electricity, life has literally turned a living hell for people in the distraught state. Thanks to the Indian Army, Navy and some brave volunteers who are putting up great efforts to provide relief to the stranded people, there is some sense of relief.

However, as if the sycophancy wasn't enough to trivialize the pain of millions, the Jayalalithaa-led party also pasted 'Amma's' pictures on the relief material for publicity.

Tamil Nadu worships Jayalalitha like a goddess and we saw the chaos in the state when she was sent to jail. However, it is unlikely that such tactics at a time of grief will go down well with the people of the state.
