Jasvir Ginday - Varkha Rani
24-year-old Varkha Rani was elated when her parents arranged her marriage with Jasvir Ram Ginday, a bank worker in UK. The couple tied the knot in March 2013 and later moved to UK in August.
The newly-wed bride was beaming in joy until she was informed about her dream husband Jasvir's true sexuality. Jasvir was a gay and had been involved in relationships before.
Knowing about her son's sexuality, Jasvir's mother pressurised him to marry an Indian village woman from Punjab. However, the bride and her family were kept in a huddle of lies by both mother-son duo. When Jasvir revealed his sexuailty to Varkha, he feared that she might let his secret out in spite.
Sensing danger for his image, Jasvir brutally murdered his newly-wed wife Varkha with a vacuum cleaner pipe, after she threatened to expose him in front of their relatives back in India.
Varkha's body was then put inside a 22-inch deep, back garden incinerator and set her alight. London police found her unrecognisable remains later.
Kabir - Sandhya
The couple together raised their two sons but Sandhya always knew that something was a miss in their physical relation (both their sons were not naturally conceived). When Kabir's family approached Sandhya's family for marriage, the latter's were elated to have found such a good match for their daughter (as Sandhya was a young widow).
For years, Kabir and Sandhya didn't have physical relation, but when their families pressurised, Kabir decided to let Sandhya conceive a child through IVF. Sandhya never questioned him for this. But when after 14 years of their marriage, Kabir finally admitted to her that he wants to have his partner come and stay with them. At first Sandhya agreed to hide the shame from society but with each passing day, Kabir outgrew his family and started torturing Sandhya to leave the couple alone and move away which she later did! Sandhya in her suicide note revealed that her husband's conspiracy to hide his sexuality only compelled her to take her own life.
