Phoebe Kannisto is a living inspiration to many people out there who want to make a contribution to the society. This woman and her six sons took the task of benevolence a notch higher. The mother and sons brigade grew their hair out together. You know the reason?
The members of this family intentionally grew their hair to donate them to people who are suffering hair loss due to illness like cancer. Kannisto has six sons, among which Andre, the 10-year-old is the oldest among all. She also has a pair of 8-year-old identical twins, Silas and Emerson and 5-year-old triplets Herbie, Reed and Dexter. She has a daughter Marah, who’s youngest of all.
On April 24th, Phoebe wrote a Facebook post telling that she and her six sons grew their hair all these years just to donate them to ‘Children with Hair Loss’. They went to Hizair Hair Salon and you’ll be surprised to know the length of hair they donated. The mother along with her six sons donated 17-feet of hair! Isn’t it simply amazing?

Phoebe also shared how her boys were bullied in school for having long hair like girls. Even the adults took a jibe at her and her sons. But she wasn’t going to stop as her motive was too great to be dropped. She had a goal and she had to achieve it. They donated their hair to an organisation called ‘Children With Hair Loss’ that provides hair replacements for kids suffering from medical-related hair loss.
Kannisto told a leading daily, HuffPost about her motivation behind her initiative.
“Three years ago, my friend lost her son to cancer,” she said. “He was a twin and very close in age to my twins. On the first anniversary of his passing, my three oldest boys donated their hair in his memory. Since their donation two years ago, our lives have continued to be touched by cancer. It’s everywhere. My boys want to help, and donating their hair is how they do it.”

Another thing to be noted that Kannisto has been donating her hair since she was a teenager. Apart from her, her three oldest sons also donated their hair back in 2015. The mother and sons grew their hair for years till they met the minimum length requirement for the donations.
Andre grew his hair for a year, the twins grew their hair for almost two years while the triplets took five years to grow their hair. Kannisto shares that her youngest daughter also wants to donate her hair when she grows old enough to do it.
Truly, what a commendable family it is. It is really important, in fact, our moral responsibility to give back to the society what we took from them. We’re blessed, fit and healthy. Let’s thank the almighty by doing all we can for the less fortunate. This is the thought behind Kannisto family’s inspiring move.
