New Delhi: A restaurant by the name of Indian Fusions in Canada is setting a new example by serving meal to those who are hungry but don’t have money to pay for it. The restaurant has a sign on the back door which reads,

Dear Friends,

If you are hungry and have no money to pay, just ring the bell below or come in for a free meal box/coffee anytime.

Apart from being generous enough to feed poor people, the people running the restaurant keep in mind people’s dietary choices, like vegetarian, non vegetarian or having allergies.

What is more commendable is that those who have no money to pay don’t feel shy here. They are welcome to dine with regular customers and don’t have to just grab a box of food and go away.

The owner Prakash Chhibber was quoted by a leading daily,

“I have seen enough hunger in the past. I know the pain of not having food. I thought, how many people can I go and ask: “Are you hungry?” It’s not possible. So I thought, why not put up a sign? In case someone is hungry.”

Prakash admits that he is not making extra food for the poor, he usually makes more than necessary to feed them. While this act of philanthropy would make a normal person proud of themselves, Prakash doesn’t feel so. He said,

“I’m feeling sad, I think that I can do much more. I am already preparing food for other people. I am not going out of my way – this is my way of life. I am not doing anything extra.”

A native of Delhi, Prakash left his job after a fatal accident. After suffering 9 multiple fractures, he was bed ridden for two years. According to him this was the time he realised what is the feeling of being devoid of anything as his wife and he ran out of money in his treatment.

He added,

“I always say in a joke, the front door is for paying my bills and the back door is for something personal.”

His restaurant might be in Edmonton, Canada but Prakash has the respect for all people around the world.
