Air carrier SpiceJet on Sunday decided to send staff earning more than Rs 50,000 monthly salary on leave without pay on a rotational basis. All the flights are suspended till May 3. According to the sources, this arrangement would be in place for three months.
The sources also told PTI that the salary for April is likely to be paid to staff for the days they were on duty. Commercial flights remain suspended since March 25 due to the nationwide lockdown to curb the spreading of coronavirus infections. The lockdown has been extended till May 3.
According to the Health Ministry, coronavirus cases in India have crossed 15,000-mark taking confirmed cases toll to 15,712 including 507 deaths and 2,231 have recovered.
