Qatar Airways today denied reports that it was in talks to bid for Air India, even as the government is on the verge of announcing the modalities for the sale of the ailing national carrier.
"Qatar Airways firmly denies it is involved in any talks regarding the acquisition of Air India," it said in a statement.
Media reports had suggested the airline along with another airline may bid for Air India, in a consortium.
In June 2017, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had given its in-principle approval to the strategic disinvestment in Air India, which has a debt burden of over Rs 50,000 crore.
