Mukesh Ambani's eldest son Akash proposed to his schoolmate Shloka Mehta, the youngest daughter of diamantaire Russell Mehta on Saturday, if reports are to be believed.
Shloka Mehta is the daughter of Russell Mehta, who heads Rosy Blue Diamonds, one of the country’s leading diamond companies.
Sources said that the wedding is planned for early December, with celebrations spread across 4-5 days, at the Oberoi in Mumbai.
Both the families and close friends gathered at a plush five-star resort on Saturday before the formal engagement, reports stated.
Akash and Shloka both studied together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS), in the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
While Akash pursued further studies at Brown University, a private Ivy League institution based in Rhode Island, Shloka left for the US to study anthropology at Princeton University and later completed her Masters in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Akash is currently on the board of Reliance Jio and Shloka is a Director with Rosy Blue Foundation and is a co-founder of ConnectFor, an organisation that helps NGOs get volunteers for various causes.
Even as the dates of either the wedding or engagement of the two biggies are not final yet, the couple is expected to get formally engaged in June and tie the knot in early December.
Akash, 27, is Mukesh Ambani's elder son and twin of sister Isha, and older brother of Anant, 22.
Russel is the son of Arunkumar Ramniklal M., one of the co-founders of B Arunkumar & Co., way back in 1960 in Opera House, Mumbai's hub of diamond business.
