Dubai Exchange has closed trading floor to prevent the spread of coronavirus as people across the world continue to fall sick after getting infected by the deadly virus. So far, the global death toll due to the COVID 19 pandemic has crossed 6,000 marks while more than 1,40,000 people have been confirmed positive for the disease.
The trading floor will remain shut till further orders, Dubai exchange mentioned in a statement.
The temporary closure of the trading floor doesn't affect the trading activity as it continues as usual. Investors can carry on with their activities through the DFM online and smart platforms as well as the licensed brokerage firms," informed Chief Operating Officer Hassan Al Serkal.
Dubai exchange moved to close trading floor after Abu Dhabi took a call to close trading halls at one of its office on Sunday.
Stock markets worldwide continue to suffer losses due to coronavirus impact globally. Tourism and aviation are among the worst-hit industries.
