Bring petrol, diesel under GST ambit: Rahul Gandhi to PM Modi

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

“Respected Modi ji, common man is deeply troubled over spiralling prices of petrol and diesel. Please bring petrol, diesel under GST ambit,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

The Congress president’s tweet comes a day after the Modi government slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel. 12 states also followed suit and slashed the VAT rates on fuel prices.

Consequent to the measures taken by the Central and state governments, petrol and diesel have become cheaper by Rs 5 per litre in 12 states. Maharashtra govt has slashed the VAT rate for petrol only.
