India's richest couple Nita and Mukesh Ambani threw a lavish pre-engagement party for their son Akash and his fiance Shloka Mehta in Mumbai on Thurday. The would-be couple's engagement is scheduled to take place on June 30.

The pre-engagement party of Akash, the eldest son of Reliance Industries chairman, witnessed Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, wife Gauri, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and several others in attendance.

Isha Ambani, who recently returned to the city after her Stanford graduation, kept it simple and classy for her twin brother's function. The Ambani heiress is also set to tie the knot with Anand Piramal, son of corporate magnates Ajay Piramal and Swati Piramal.

Akash and twin sister Isha are eldest of the three children of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. He is on the board of Reliance Jio, the group's fast growing telecom venture.

Speaking at Reliance Industries' AGM last year, Mukesh Ambani had described the company's telecom arm - Jio - as a young company with 1 lakh employees led by his 25-year-old twins.

"Jio is a young organisation and Akash and Isha, our directors at Jio, both 25, lead a large contingent of success-hungry and highly talented professionals," Mukesh Ambani had said.
