The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading with a jump of 644.15 points to 52,909.87 in early trade. The NSE Nifty also gained 192.6 points to 15,749.25.
From the Sensex pack, Maruti, M&M, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, TCS and Hindustan Unilever among others were the major gainers. On the other hand, Reliance Industries, NTPC, Power Grid and UltraTech Cement were the laggards.
The BSE Sensex zoomed 934.23 points or 1.81 per cent to settle at 52,532.07. During the day, it rallied 1,201.56 points or 2.32 per cent to 52,799.40. The NSE Nifty climbed 288.65 points or 1.88 per cent to finish at 15,638.80.
The BSE benchmark gained 237.42 points or 0.46 per cent to settle at 51,597.84. During the day, it hit a high of 51,714.61 and a low of 51,062.93.
The BSE benchmark declined 135.37 points or 0.26 per cent to settle at 51,360.42. During the day, the benchmark faced volatility and tanked 574.57 points or 1.11 per cent to its one-year low of 50,921.22.
The BSE benchmark was trading 425.11 points lower at 51,070.68. The Nifty dipped 125.7 points to 15,234.90.
Nifty50 Prediction, Nifty50 Chart: Nifty50 has corrected more than 17% from its all-time high of 18,604 in October 2021.
Across-the-board selling played havoc on the headline indices, with index majors Reliance Industries and HDFC twins contributing most to the decline.

The S&P BSE Sensex rallied more than 600 points to trade above 53,000, the NSE Nifty50 gained 171 points to sit comfortably above 15,800. Bank Nifty was also in the green.
The BSE benchmark was trading 153.25 points lower at 52,540.32 in early trade. The Nifty declined by 39.55 points to 15,692.55.
The 30-share BSE benchmark dropped 153.13 points or 0.29 percent to settle at 52,693.57. During the day, it tumbled 387.22 points or 0.73 percent to 52,459.48.
LIC made its market debut at a discount of 8.11 per cent at Rs 872 per share on May 17.
