The 30-share BSE index ended 1,016.84 points or 1.84 per cent lower at 54,303.44. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty plunged 276.30 points or 1.68 per cent to 16,201.80.
Equity benchmark Sensex and Nifty declined more than 1 per cent each in early trade on Friday.
The 30-share BSE benchmark surged 427.79 points or 0.78 per cent to close at 55,320.28. During the day, the benchmark hit a high of 55,366.84 and a low of 54,507.41.
The 30-share BSE gauge was trading 277.91 points or 0.51 per cent lower at 54,614.58 in early trade. Likewise, the Nifty declined 76.40 points or 0.47 per cent to 16,279.85.
The 30-share BSE benchmark dropped 214.85 points or 0.39 per cent to settle at 54,892.49. The broader NSE Nifty declined 60.10 points or 0.37 per cent to finish at 16,356.25.
LIC shareholders have lost around Rs 1,23,686 crore since its listing on May 17. The scrip is trading 20% lower than the IPO issue price.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 559.46 points lower at 55,115.86. The broader NSE Nifty fell by 161.05 points to 16,408.50.
LIC share price crashed nearly 3% on NSE and BSE each to close below Rs 800 on Monday.
The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 93.91 points or 0.17 per cent to end at 55,675.32. During the day, it tanked 473.49 points or 0.84 per cent to 55,295.74. The broader NSE Nifty fell 14.75 points or 0.09 per cent to finish at 16,569.55.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 185.24 points or 0.33 percent to settle at 55,381.17. During the day, it dived 474.98 points or 0.85 percent to 55,091.43 after an initial rally. The broader NSE Nifty dipped 61.80 points or 0.37 percent to finish at 16,522.75.
Investors were cautious ahead of release of GDP data, while a jump in crude oil prices also weighed on market sentiment, traders said.

International oil benchmark Brent crude gained 0.48 per cent to USD 120 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors continued their selling spree as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,943.10 crore on Friday, as per stock exchange data.
