Micromax Yu has launched a flagship, the Yuphoria, in India at Rs 6,999. It is the company's second Cyanogen-based smartphone and claims to bring features seen in a flagship device at affordable price.
The device will be exclusively available on Amazon India via the traditional flash sale model. The first flash sale will be conducted on May 28, the registrations for which begin today at 5PM.
Yuphoria has been designed to give the device a premium look – for which the company has used an all metal body. While launching the device Micromax founder Rahul Sharma said the phone has been built using the metal stamping process and physical vapour deposition has been used for the multi colour along with polishing and anti-fingerprint coating. This gives the device a better grip and a flagship feel.
The smartphone comes with a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1080 pixels resolution with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It runs Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12. It comes with an app themer that allows users to customise the look and feel of the device. The phone also has a truecaller integrated dialler.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. It also gets 16GB onboard storage . The dual SIM smartphone supports most sensors found in flagship devices. It also supports Bluetooth and 4G LTE.
Measuring 8.25mm in thickness, the device weighs 143 grams.
It has an 8MP rear snapper and a 5MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. For audio, it gets Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo chip.
A 2230 battery completes the package. It also features the Quick charge ability seen mostly in high-end phones.
It will be available in steel with Buffed black and Champagne gold with white.
