New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi will hold a flash sale on December 23 for its budget smartphone, the Redmi 1S.
This was announced by Xiaomi's global vice president Hugo Barra on his Facebook page. "We are happy to announce that the Delhi High Court today issued a ruling in our favor, allowing us to resume sales in India subject to certain terms," he said.
Besides Redmi 1S, Xiaomi will also be selling Redmi Note phablet in India; though it will bring the 4G model of the handset this time.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S features dual-SIM support, 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The phone also packs 2000 mAh battery, 8MP rear camera, 1.6MP front shooter, and Android 4.3-based MIUI v5. The handset comes at a cost of Rs 5,999.
On Tuesday the Delhi high court allowed Xiaomi Technology India Pvt. Ltd to import and sell communication devices such as mobile phones and tablets in India till January 8, subject to conditions.
Xiaomi is now allowed to sell smartphones powered by Qualcomm chipsets till January 8 in India.
Last time the Redmi 1S went on sale was on December 8 via Flipkart without registration 'while stocks last'. Xiaomi did not reveal how many units had gone on sale.
