New Delhi: Popular messaging service WhatsApp may well on its way to unveil the new feature of video-calling, new leaks that surfaced online suggest.

According to reports, the new feature of WhatsApp has currently been tested internally for WhatsApp version 2.12.16.2 for iOS and the build is for developers. However, there is no official announcement from WhatsApp on the new feature which is expected to arrive sometime next year.

With over 900 million monthly active users, the app is also in plans to come up with a new feature of 'multi-tab user interface' through which a user will be able to jump from one chat to another without going back to the main chat list.

The images, which have been posted online by a German Apple blog Macerkopf.de, have been taken from the  new version WhatsApp (v2.12.16.2) for iOS.

According to the images, the video calling feature on WhatsApp shows that the update is going to provide multiple chat tabs to its users which will enable them to swap between the front and the rear camera.

With this new update, WhatsApp will now enter into a full-fledged competition with applications like Skype.

It will be interesting to see how well WhatsApp call performs via its video-calling feature and whether it satisfies people or not.

In India, the WhatsApp voice-calling feature announced this year initially attracted a lot of attention but people soon began to ignore it due of its limitations of facilitating proper conversations even on 3G networks.
