New York, May 3: Warren Buffett accumulates Twitter followers even faster than he makes money.
The 82-year-old investment guru, mega-billionaire and famed technophobe joined the service and sent his first message on Thursday and within 10 minutes had more than 10,000 followers.
"Warren is in the house," Buffett said under the handle @WarrenBuffett, sparking a fury of retweets of the debut words of the savvy investor dubbed the "Oracle of Omaha". It was billed as the first social media event for the notoriously technology-averse billionaire.
Buffett, the world's fourth richest person with $53.5 billion ($A52.3 billion), according to Forbes, has more than 200,000 followers as of Friday morning.
