New Delhi: Volkswagen India, the Indian subsidiary of Europe's largest carmaker, has launched a more rugged version based on the standard Polo at Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car will be available in both petrol and diesel versions like the Polo.
The car is available with a 1.2-litre TDI engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The same engine also powers the standard Polo.
The model sports a bold and aggressive looking variant, which the company believes should appeal to those who are looking for an affordable lifestyle vehicle.
Commenting on the launch of the new Volkswagen Cross Polo India launch, Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said “The Polo is an important carline in the Indian portfolio and with ongoing updates we keep it relevant and exciting for our customers. The Cross Polo has been created for those looking at a premium hatchback in a sporty ‘crossover' style.”
The car comes with few design upgrades including new ‘Cross' front and rear bumpers, sturdy looking body cladding and wheel arches, silver painted mirrors and roof rails, 5-spoke alloys, ‘Livon' titanium black upholstery and Cross Polo stickers on the sides.
The Cross Polo's 1.2-litre TDI engine delivers a maximum power output of 75 PS (55 kW) @ 4200rpm and a maximum torque of 180 Nm @ 2000 rpm and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This is the same engine that powers the diesel variant of the regular Polo.
The car is also believed to have dual airbags, seat belt reminder, engine immobiliser, automatic turn of engine, keyless entry, ABS with EBD and all others which Polo had.
The Cross Polo will be offered in 3 different colours- Flash Red, Reflex Silver and Deep Black Pearl.
