New Delhi: Social network Twitter has added a new feature that allows users to share their tweets through Direct Message or DMs as they are lovingly known.
Through this feature you can send ay tweet which you particularly want your friend to read without letting anyone know about it.
The service has been made available by the site, and works on iOS and Android, twitter.com and TweetDeck for web, as well as Chrome and Windows.
Twitter said in a blog post: "Every day, people use Twitter to share what's interesting. And as you may have heard, now there's a new way to do that by sharing tweets privately using Direct Messages.
"Twitter is already a great place for public conversation; now it's also easier to privately discuss things you care about."
To use this feature all you need to do is long-press on the tweet which you want to send. The options that show up after that will have the choice of sharing via Direct Message. Thus, you then only need to add the name or handle of the person to whom you wish to send it.
Apart from sharing tweets privately, the feature already covered sharing of links and images.
Twitter claims to have over 280 million monthly active users, whilst about half billion users visit the site every month.
