New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched a top-end variant on the Fortuner, and an updated version of base variants of the Innova MPV. Both these vehicles now come with standard dual-front airbags (driver + passenger) along with added bling.
The new Toyota Fortuner 4×4 AT costs Rs 24.17 lakh and Rs 26.49 lakh while Innova is available in the range of Rs 10.51 lakh and Rs 15.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). On mechanical terms there is hardly any change.
2015 Fortuner
Toyota has expanded the Fortuner range with three new variants. In addition to the 3.0-litre 4WD automatic, the Fortuner now also gets a smaller 2.5-litre mill from the Innova.
The new Fortuner comes with smoked headlamps, 12-spoke dark grey alloys, all-black interiors and touchscreen DVD display.
The 4×4 Fortuner also features a 5-speed automatic variant and is available with the more powerful 171PS 3.0-litre diesel motor which is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 11.50kmpl.
Under the hood, the SUV gets a new 2.5-litre diesel motor which generates 144PS of power at 3,400rpm and 343Nm of torque from 1600-2800rpm, a massive 42PS and 143Nm more than the Innova.
The top-end Fortuner now gets the convenience of AT and 4WD. Earlier, the Fortuner was available with an automatic transmission but only in 2WD variants. The new 4×4 AT variant combines the 5-speed automatic gearbox (a regular torque converter unit) with the advantage of the SUVs 4×4 system.
2015 Innova
Changes to the Innova include dark grey dual-tone alloys, wood finish steering wheel, redesigned leather seats, oak interior colour as well as standard dual airbags.
The new Innova also comes with an updated infotainment system with a touchscreen setup and Bluetooth connectivity. The new Innova will also come standard with ABS and airbags in every single variant to improve on safety of the passengers.
The Innova still comes with a 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine which makes 102PS of power and 200Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The company claims the Innova delivers a fuel efficiency of 13.31kmpl.
