Shangai's magnetic levitation (maglev) train is the first commercial high-speed magnetically levitated train in the world. The train connects Shanghai Pudong International Airport with the Shanghai metro system. It covers the 30 kilometer (18.5mile) journey from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road Station in approximately 7 minutes. It reaches speeds of upto 430 kmh (268 mph).
It has been recorded at a top speed of 311 mph and its top operating speed is 268 mph, making it the world's fastest commercial train.
It cost $1.2 billion to build and took on its first passengers in 2003.
