Engine and gearboxThe Maruti Swift DZire is powered by two engine options including 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine and 1.3-litre CRDi diesel engine. The 1.2-litre petrol motor produces 86 BHP of maximum power at 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM, while the 1.3-litre diesel engine is good for 75 BHP of maximum power at 4000 RPM with 190 Nm of peak torque at 2000 RPM. The engine is specifically a K-12 series which has a double over-head camshaft that is light weight and features a five speed manual transmission. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard with 4-speed automatic transmission being optional with the petrol motor. The turbo now comes to business at around 17-800 instead of 20-2100 rpm as was incase of previous Dzire. The car in turbo zone delivers amazing power and keeps the revs above 2000 rpm along with strong torque delivery.
The diesel variant of the car has a 1.3 litre DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft) diesel engine with a displacement of 1248 cc. This engine is responsible for the fuel efficiency and high performance of the diesel variants of the Maruti Swift DZire. This DDiS engine is bestowed with superior CRDI fuel injection system with turbocharger and intercooler combination that offers efficient combustion and higher torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm.
