New Delhi, May 12: Ford India has said its latest SUV, the EcoSport, will be the only vehicle in its segment, to offer a potentially life saving 'emergency assistance' system when it goes on sale in the country.
The assistance, which is vehicle-based and no-cost, will be given free for the entire ownership cycle of the vehicle. Emergency assistance works by delivering a critical voice message directly to emergency operators, indicating that a vehicle has been involved in an accident in which the airbags have been deployed or fuel pump shut off triggered and opens the line for hands-free communication.
The EcoSport has put lots of focus on design, engine tech and features. To push the envelope Ford has loaded in tech like the Microsoft partnered SYNC system into the car's audio and telecom features. SYNC is Ford's voice-activated hands-free-in-car communications and entertainment system for mobile phones and digital media players that allows the driver to make and receive calls and play music from digital devices.
Ford EcoSport's three engine versions and the ten trim levels have been priced between them to range between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
The EcoSport's bookings start in June and deliveries start right after.
