New Delhi: Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched its premium 150cc bike Gixxer priced at Rs 72,199 (ex-showroom Delhi). Aimed at the youth segment, the new Gixxer takes design cues from GSX-R1000 Series.
The whole bike comes in a premium package offering a sporty engine, light frame and good looks. The Gixxer 155 measures 2050 mm in length, 785 mm in width and 1030 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1330 mm and ground clearance of 160 mm. The seat height is also a reasonable 780 mm.
In terms of styling the bike has muscular tones. To give it sporty looks, the raised brawny fuel tank is complimented by the side fenders. The bike comes with a raised pillion seat which doubles up as a small back rest for the rider. Other significant additions include the LED tail lights, dual exhaust muffler and the quirky shaped alloy wheels. The bike uses an all-digital instrument cluster that is easy to read providing all vital details on display.
The Suzuki Gixxer is powered by a new 154.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve engine that belts out 14.8 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle also comes equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology for improved performance and fuel efficiency.
With a kerb weight of just 135 kgs, the bike gets an overwhelming power to weight ratio that is sure to amaze biking enthusiasts.
Stopping power comes from a front disc brake with a drum brake setup at the rear. The bike competes against the likes of the Honda CB Trigger, Yamaha FZ-S FI 2.0, and TVS Apache 160. The Suzuki Gixxer is offered in 5 colours – red, blue, grey, white and black.
The Gixxer is the fourth product that SMIPL has launched this year after the bikes V Strom 1000ABS and Inazuma along with scooter Let's.
Last year the company sold about 5 lakh units. For 2014, the company is looking at 15 per cent sales growth.
