New Delhi: Cash-strapped budget airline SpiceJet is making some major changes at the top management level. The company is reducing the number of Vice Presidents (VPs) in the company from twenty to just five.
The move is seen as a step to rationalize the staff management as the company is going through a phase of financial crisis.Earlier, SpiceJet announced its decision to transfer the ownership, management and control of the company to co-founder Ajay Singh from Sun Group chairman Kalanithi Maran and Kal Airways. The Civil Aviation Ministry has also approved the revival plan for SpiceJet.
A senior executive in the company on the condition of anonymity has said that the new management team under Ajay Singh is also contemplating on the idea to bring ex-officials of SpiceJet who have shifted to other companies to assist in the revival of already troubled SpiceJet.
The official further said that how under Ajay Singh who has recently brought 58 per cent stake in the company has made a decision that all the airport managers will report directly to the General Manager (GM) who will be posted at company's corporate office.
Earlier, the airport mangers used to report to Deputy General Mangers (DGMs) who were placed in the various parts of the country and then the DGM sent its reports to the GM.
Market experts has also said that such move by the company will help in saving a lot of capital which is utmost important for the company at the present time.
