New Delhi, Jul 19 :As part of its expansion plan in northern India, low cost carrier SpiceJet today launched two daily direct flights to Dehradun from here.

Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Amrita Rawat inaugurated the services, which would be operated with new Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft, an airline spokesperson said.

The airline would be operating one flight in the morning and one in evening.

“Dehradun is a popular spot in north India and with our affordable services, we hope people would prefer to fly with SpiceJet.

With this launch we are further expanding our footprint in the northern region,” SpiceJet Chief Executive Officer Neil Mills said.

With the new fleet of Bombardier Q400 aircraft, the Kalanithi Maran-promoted airline aims at reaching more hinterland of northern Indian and connect more Tier II and Tier III cities on its network.

In its first phase of North India expansion, the airline aims at connecting the cities of Amritsar, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Indore and Srinagar to Delhi among the existing cities.

The new Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft can accommodate 78 passengers, the spokesperson said.
