Jaipur, Jul 02 : JD(U) president Sharad Yadav today said the NDA would ban futures trading of agri-products if it returns to power at the Centre and blamed the UPA government for skyrocketing prices.

Yadav said that inflation was highest in the regime of the UPA Government as it promoted trading of agri-products in commodities' exchange.

He said the NDA would stop the trading to control inflation if it formed the next government.  “Political situation in the country today is bad and more challenging particularly after the formation of UPA-II government. We were self-sufficient in food security but now it has become a major concern because of the UPA,” the NDA convener told a press conference here today.  “Acquisition of agricultural land for SEZ, builders and colonisers and beginning of commodity exchange are the home-grown factors responsible for inflation and skyrocketing prices,” he said.

The JD(U) President also accused the Gehlot government in Rajasthan of acquiring agricultural land.  On the issue of anti-corruption drive by social activist Anna Hazare he said, “I personally know Hazare and can say that he is a non-political person and his movement is not sponsored by any political party, as it has been alleged.” To strengthen party in Rajasthan, he said the JD(U) will be focusing on Wagad region in the state and its alliance with BJP would continue.

On the possibility of a third front in the state, he said it would be decided by the state-level leaders. PTI
