Mumbai: The benchmark BSE Sensex reclaimed 28,000-level for the first time since December 9 and the NSE Nifty rose to trade above 8,400-mark in opening trade today on sustained fund inflows.
At 11:05 am, the 30-share index rose 138.95 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 28,026.85.
The gauge had gained almost 680 points in the past six sessions.
All the sectoral indices, led by capital goods, metal and auto, were trading in positive zone with gains up to 1.18 per cent.
On similar lines, the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 36 points, or 0.44 per cent, to trade above the 8,400-level at 8,432.35.
