New Delhi: Samsung has confirmed that its all new Galaxy S5 will be available at a best buy price of Rs 51,500 in India. Earlier, Mumbai-based Manish Katri of Mahesh Telecom, also claimed that the S5 would retail at an MRP of Rs 54,300, while the MOP (Maximum Offering Price) would be Rs 51,500.
The South Korean firm had earlier confirmed that the phone will cost between Rs 51,000 and 53,000 in India, with the exact pricing being revealed ahead of the scheduled April 11 launch.
The company unveiled the new device on March 27, but did not reveal the pricing of the smartphone.
The S5 in India will not be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 octa-core processor, instead by Samsung's own Exynos octa-core chipset. This processor essentially boasts a set of 1.9GHz A15 quad-core and 1.3GHz A7 quad-core processors.
The device offers a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory with external memory support for up to 64GB.
The device comes with a 16-megapixel primary camera with additional features like selective focus, and a 2-megapixel front camera. It runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat wrapped under an overhauled TouchWiz UI.
Connectivity-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with HSDPA, 42.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps; LTE, Cat4, 50 Mbps UL, 150 Mbps DL, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, IR blaster, and microUSB 3.0, USB On-the-go, USB Host.
Additional features also include water and dust resistance, a fingerprint scanner on the home button and a heart rate sensor at the back.
