Mumbai: The rupee lost 11 paise to 62.30 against the US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to rise in the Greenback's value against other currencies overseas.
Forex dealers attributed the fall in the rupee to the dollar's gains against other global currencies and sustained capital outflows but a higher opening in the domestic stock market capped the rupee's fall.
The rupee had ended two paise down at over one-month low of 62.19 in yesterday's trade on late dollar demand from banks and importers.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 134.85 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 28,490.47 in early trade today.
