Ahmedabad, Jul 1: Reliance Industries will reopen its retail petrol pumps in Gujarat and begin selling the fuel at the same price as charged by PSU oil companies, the company said today.
Out of the 60 petrol pumps across Gujarat, 52 will start offering petrol at same prices as compared to other PSUs from July 1.
Of them, 36 will sell Auto LPG also at prices that are at par with PSU outlets, a RIL spokesperson said.
Thus, the company will sell petrol at Rs 72.86 per litre, while auto LPG will be sold at Rs 43.68 per litre.
According to the spokesperson, the remaining few outlets will become operational over the next few days.
With the decontrol of petrol pricing, there is now a level-playing field and our petrol will be sold at the same price as that of other PSU oil companies, he said.
RIL had to close down it's petrol pumps across the country in 2008, when oil prices shot up and selling petrol from its outlets became uneconomical as it could not match the price of PSUs which enjoyed subsidy from the government and could sell the fuel at below the cost.
