Chennai, Mar 12: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group flagship Reliance Communications today said sales of its first CDMA tablet would be driven by its customised plans.
Claiming to be the first to introduce the “Reliance Tab” in CDMA technology, Reliance Communications Wireless Business - Hub Head Rakesh Singh said customised plans offer upto 40 per cent annual discounts to subscribers.
“Upto 40 per cent discounts are offered in 5GB data usage plans. There is a growing demand for tablets under Rs 20,000 category”, he told reporters here after unveiling the tablet.
Observing that the tablet market in India was at a nascent stage, he said the industry was set to cross over eight lakh units in next three years from the present 1.6 lakh units , with a 77 per cent CAGR.
Currently, Reliance Communications offers customised plan with discounts ranging from 27 per cent to 40 per cent annually. For monthly plans, the company offers discounts from 20 per cent to 31 per cent, he said.
Priced at Rs 12,999 the Tablet equipped with Android 2.3 operating system, supports upto 32GB content storage, weighing 397 grams.
The tablet is supported by the company's CDMA network across 22 circles in 1000 towns, he said, adding that the company was also offering one year antivirus package and others benefits valued upto Rs 2,100.
