Suri (WB), July 26 : Abhijit Mukherjee, son of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, has resigned as the chairman of the West Bengal Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (WBIDFC).
Refusing to disclose the reasons behind his resignation within two months of taking over, Abhijit told PTI he had tendered his resignation yesterday.
Unconfirmed reports said bickering within the state Congress drove him to leave his post.
Abhijit had defeated Forward Bloc's Dipak Chatterjee from Nalhati constituency in his native Birbhum district in the Assembly elections held earlier this year.
He had quit as general manager, corporate social responsibility, in public sector major SAIL prior to contesting the elections. PTI
