Hisar, Oct 15: Punjab National Bank today launched agricultural loan campaign for farmers here today, aiming to disburse nearly Rs 4,000 crore of loans to four lakh peasants across the nation over the next 45 days.
S R Bansal, Executive Director of the bank, said here that the campaign shall continue till November 30 and all the districts of the country will be covered in 45 days.
He said that the bank would grant agricultural loans to about four lakhs farmers during this period and an approximate amount of Rs 4,000 crore would be disbursed to them.
“It is a huge effort to provide farmers an opportunity to increase their income and make permanent assets which may help in their regular earning,” he said on the occasion.
Later talking to reporters, he said, “as a lead bank the Punjab National Bank has so far extended loans worth Rs 88,000 crore and out of this amount Rs 40,000 crores have been disbursed in agricultural field.”
Today in Hisar, 600 farmers were extended loans worth Rs 19 crore at an interest rate of 7 per cent.
