New Delhi: Chinese handset maker OnePlus has sold half a million units of its high-end OnePlus One smartphone since April. The company hopes that it will be able to sell a million devices by the end of the year.
In an interview with Forbes, company's co-founder and Director of Global, Carl Pei, believed that the upcoming holiday season will trigger a windfall of orders for its $299 flagship smartphone.
The OnePlus One smartphone, dubbed as the 'flagship killer' has received good response across the globe, especially due to its high end specifications at an affordable price. The device is being exclusively sold online, however, increasing demand has seen the company struggling with supplies.
Because of tremendous demand, the company recently opted out of their much-used invite system in favour of a more common pre-order system in response to tremendous demand. However, in India it is still continuing with the invite-only system.
The OnePlus One smartphone features a 5.5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad core Snapdragon 801processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes in two variants: 32GB and 64GB. It sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The device runs CyanogenMod 11 OS based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
