New Delhi, April 7: Nokia Lumia 520, also known as the 'cheapest Windows Phone 8' mobile, is now available for purchase from Nokia's official website and other online as well as offline dealers in the country for Rs. 10,499. The low budget handset is sure to please those buyers who don't want an over-complicated or over-equipped smartphone. The company also says the Lumia 720 is expected to be available in mid-April.
Lumia 520 measures 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm and weighs 124 grams.
The Windows Phone 8 device has a 4-inch LCD display, offering resolution of 480X800 pixels (233 ppi), along with a ClearBlack filter that reduces outdoor glare and comes with a highly sensitive screen that responds even while wearing a glove -- just like the Lumia 920 and 820 series. Given that 520 uses a WVGA (800x480) LCD panel, it's not quite as saturated in color as the 720, as its 4-inch size makes the text appear more crisp and clear than its larger-screened companion.
The overall design language of 520 seems to be consistent and smooth. It will be offered in five of Nokia's usual colors: cyan, red, black, yellow and white.
Under the hood, the 520 is powered by a Snapdragon S4 1GHz dual-core processor alongside 512MB RAM and 8GB internal storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. . If you need more space for your photos and video clips, Microsoft offers its standard 7GB in free online SkyDrive storage. The phone comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with 720p video recording. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G. It has a 1,430mAh battery.
