Nokia launches the Lumia 625, a 4G Windows Phone at Rs 17,300

New Delhi, July 24: Nokia has revealed its biggest phone to date, with a screen measuring in at 4.7 inches. It's called Lumia 625 which has a 4.7-inch super-sensitive LCD screen. It includes five coloured changeable shell and is 4G/LTE-ready. The smartphone will cost approximately Rs 17,304 ($290).However, the smartphone's IPS LCD screen features only 480x800 pixels resolution, which comes as a bit disappointing for a big screen phone. And despite a large LCD screen, it's still thinner than the Lumia 920 at 9.15mm (0.36 inches).The phone features a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash. It has a front VGA camera. The Lumia 625 has 512MB RAM and an internal storage of 8GB. The Nokia Lumia 625 also supports a microSD card up to 64GB. The phone is powered by the latest version of Windows Phone 8 and also includes the Nokia Lumia Amber update.Like previous Lumias, the 625 offers good built quality that doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. It's encased in interchangeable covers, which looks pretty good in the hands. The curved back on 625 looks similar to the Lumia 720, and the screen is rounded at the edge, like the high-end Lumia 920. The 625 runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 software which shows big coloured squares called live tiles on the home screen showing shortcuts to your apps. The tiles light up with notifications on messages, photos and pictures of your contacts. The 625 is loaded up with the latest update to Windows Phone 8, codenamed Amber.Connectivity options of the phone include 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. It will be powered by 2,000mAh battery and weighs 159gram.Nokia says the Lumia 625 includes technologies found in the recently announced flagship Nokia Lumia 1020. It says you'll get the likes of the gif-making Cinemagraph and the same Smart Camera app seen on the Lumia 925."With our largest smartphone screen to date, the Nokia Lumia 625 is a perfect example of how Nokia is delivering leading smartphone innovation and experiences at every price point," said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices.The phone allows access to over 165,000 apps including Vimeo, Temple Run and WhatsApp. The Nokia Lumia 625 offers surfing with Internet Explorer 10 - making it ideal for viewing videos, games, and other content.Nokia Music provides unlimited streaming of ad-free mixes without registration or subscription, plus the ability to download mixes for listening offline with the Nokia Lumia 625. Nokia has also teamed with Coloud(TM) to create BOOM(TM) headphones that combine audio prowess with excellent value, and integrated microphone and buttons for voice calls and music control.The 625 comes in green, white, yellow, black, red -- and, orange. The new phone goes on sale in Q3 this year in China, Europe, Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
