New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra has launched a new variant of SsangYong's sports utility vehicle Rexton in the country, Ssangyong Rexton RX6, priced at Rs 19.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Rexton Rx6 offers equipment similar to the RX7, but features a 5-speed manual transmission and not the latter's 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Rx6 gets power from a 2.7-litre XDi270 5-cylinder diesel motor that delivers 162 HP and generates 340 Nm of torque. The RX6 even has a Torque-on-Demand manual 4 x 4 system. The new model also comes with an electric sunroof with open/tilt functionality, speed sensitive power steering, infotainment system with navigation, 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat + memory function (3 presets) and ORVMs, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
"... We continuously take feedback from consumers and update our products to cater to their evolving needs. One such feedback from customers was the need for high end and luxurious features in a manual transmission model," M&M Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division Vivek Nayer said.
In terms of safety, Rexton RX6 gets the regular ABS and EBD, an Electronic Stability Program, anti-slip regulation and active rollover protection, hill descent control, and front+side airbags.
The SsangYong Rexton is currently available in two models -- RX5 and RX7 -- in the country. The RX5 is an entry level manual transmission model, while RX7 is the top-end model.
The Ssangyong Rexton RX6 has a comparatively lower price when compared to its competitors, and still packs in more equipment and features.
