Milan: Nestle Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paul Bulcke on Wednesday said that he wanted to see popular and now banned Maggi noodles back in the Indian market as soon as possible.

On June 5, the central food regulator FSSAI banned all variants of Maggi noodles terming them as “unsafe and hazardous” for human consumption.

While visiting the Milan expo, Bulcke said that the company is doing all it can to make contact with Indian authorities at the earliest and bring the product back in the Indian market.

He added that the ban would not impact jobs if the production resumes shortly.

Meanwhile, the company is in the process to destroy 27,420 tonnes or 400 million packets of Maggi noodles. The company says that 17,020 tonnes of Maggi are currently with distributors, retail outlets and consumers. They have begun buying back noodles by the carton in order to destroy them.

The company said that it would at east take 40 days to destroy all the noodles.
