New Delhi: Mozilla has released version 37.0 of its Firefox Web browser, providing users with security patches for 13 different security advisories as well as adding new security and user-experience features.
In its Release Notes, Mozilla says the FireFox version 37 includes addition of new locales -Albanian, Burmese, Lower Sorbian, Songhai, Upper Sorbian, and Uzbek. It has further set Yandex as the default search provider for the Turkish locale.
For improved security, Mozilla has added a technology called opportunistic encryption, which is designed to encrypt potentially sensitive data that would otherwise have been sent unencrypted and in the clear.
Firefox 37 also integrates Mozilla's OneCRL (Certificate Revocation List), which is an effort to make SSL/TLS certificate revocation more effective. Other features include encryption of HTTP traffic where the server supports HTTP/2 AltSvc and page address in the URL bar instead of the page title by default.
To improve user experience, Mozilla is using a new feedback mechanism called Heartbeat. The tool is a new and complementary feedback mechanism to Mozilla's existing support and Bugzilla feedback systems.
