New Delhi: US based company Modular Robotics, has unveiled build-your-own toy robots that can drive, wiggle and react to the world around them. The toys are currently displayed on crowd funding website Kickstarter. The modular system, called Moss, is more varied and sophisticated, and interestingly keeps all the wiring, coding, and other nitty gritty details out of the way. It uses magnetic balls as joints and hinges, and works without the user having to write any computer code.By attaching a Bluetooth module, players can control the robots remotely using a smartphone or tablet.Modular Robotics chief executive and design director Eric Schweikardt said the final version of the robot kits would "begin shipping in January or February." Schweikardt said the campaign, which runs through December 11th, is there because "in 2013, it seems like the place where people look for cool new tech products."He believes such toys could help make robotics accessible to young children and interest them in engineering from a young age.Users can start with a simple starter kit at $59 or go all-out with the $949 mega bundle (price only on Kickstarter)
