Like every other common practice, even motorcycling has its own share of myths and misconceptions. Most of these myths arise due to misplaced ideas and facts that spread across the biking world through the word of mouth.

We all have heard long stories stating the weird things that make our motorcycle run faster and what needs to be done when we come across the crash. Most, if not all, are nonsense.

Here we have listed top 5 motorcycle myths which are ruining the biking culture.

1. Race Rubber Tyres have Perfect Grip:

Yeah, this is a myth, which people have in their minds. Though it is correct, but it does not perform the same way everywhere and reason behind this is different. The actual reason behind the grip is heat, which these tyres produce on race tracks.

As we all know that racing motorcycles are designed to run on high speeds and due to the speed, the tyres get heated and return a sticky grip. While on the other hand, one would expect these tyres to perform the same on city roads.

One can find large number of options offering better grip and balance on city roads. Due to the myth, people have started preferring racing rubber tyres in city as well, which does not offer similar riding experience.

2. Costlier bikes have excellent performance:

It is a popular belief, which most of the people will agree with, but same thing does not apply everywhere. Performance of the bike completely depends upon tuning of the engine, while the pricing, most of the time depends on the list of features the bike offers.

There are instances, when you will see a bike costing lacs of rupees, missing on feature like ABS, which other bikes in the same segment might be offering.

Just buying the motorcycle because of the promotional video does not make much sense. The motorcycles used in promotional video, especially the adventurous ones are tuned to advance levels.

These advertisements are made by professional riders under controlled conditions. Though, the bike uses the same engine and power as claimed by company, but might not give you similar results in city roads.

It is always advisable to take a test ride before judging the bike on promotional videos.
