New Delhi: Microsoft is likely to launch its recently announced Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL smartphones in India on April 7. The company has sent media invites with a tagline "Inspiration doesn't only work 9 to 5!" along with a hashtag #AchieveMore for its event on Tuesday. It hints at the launch of Microsoft's new affordable smartphones in India.
Microsoft Lumia 640 smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 1GB of RAM. It includes 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The phone comes with 15GB of free cloud storage on OneDrive. It offers an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash, a 1-megapixel front-facing camera for video-calling, and is backed by a 2,500mAh battery.
The company announced these devices in January at Mobile World Congress Microsoft.
Lumia 640 XL offers a 5.7 inch IPS ClearBlack HD Display and is powered by a Snapdragon 400 Quad-Core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, which is expandable to upto 128 GB via microSD card. It features a 13 MP Rear Camera with LED flash along with 5 MP Front Facing Camera, which seems to be great for Selfie lovers. It packs a 3,000 mAh battery to feed the HD display.
The devices come pre-installed with Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
The handsets are loaded with Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Denim Update. These devices can be upgraded to Microsoft's next OS, Windows 10.
There is no official statement on the pricing but the Lumia 640 is expected to be priced at Rs 9,999, while the Lumia 640 XL is expected be priced at INR 13,999.
