New Delhi, May 16: Google Nexus 4, an eagerly awaited smartphone in India, has been launched by Google and is now available for pre-orders on online retailer Flipkart. The Nexus 4, which runs on the latest version of Android has been launched in India at Rs 25, 999.
The Nexus 4 shares the DNA of LG's latest flagship device, the LG Optimus G. The device would be available at selected LG exclusive brand shops, multi brand outlets and speciality stores (modern trade) across the country.
The Nexus 4 measures 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1 mm – which means it is similar to its predecessor. But it looks good and comfortable to hold. The front is all glass in piano black. Both sides of the Nexus 4 are covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 2, making the device's in-hand feel top-notch
The device has a 4.7-inch of True HD IPS Plus display, a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 318. Round the edges, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on top, volume rocker and micro SIM tray on the left, micro USB port plus a few dubious screws on the bottom, and a perfectly placed lock/unlock/power button on the upper right hand side. You can also expect to see the standard WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and other radios found in a modern smartphone today.
It comes with 8-megapixel camera to shoot and share amazing panoramic photos or stunning 360-degree Photo Sphere pictures. Using built-in editing tools, you can add great touches to your pictures and share them instantly on Google+. You can also capture still shots while shooting full 1080p video. In addition, you can use Movie Studio to create your own movie and upload easily to YouTube.
The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, and runs on DC-HSDPA, the very latest iteration of Jelly Bean 4.2.
Here are some features of Android 4.2:
Security: The security system now extends to side-loaded applications, which are scanned immediately upon installation.
Keyboard: The new Android 4.2 keyboard includes a gesture-based typing method, much like Swype.
Widgets on the Lock Screen: Google has given users the option to add widgets on the lock screen.
Daydream - Daydream is essentially a screensaver for your Android device.
Miracast support: Android 4.2 introduces wireless display support via Miracast.
The call quality on Nexus 4 seems to be pretty decent but battery life seems to be a mixed bag on the Nexus 4. The handset should indeed get you through the day -- it just might need to go through a few battery cycles first.
