Thane: Traders and businessmen from the district, who held a meeting here today, demanded that the state government should scrap the local body tax (LBT) in the current session of the Legislature beginning tomorrow.
The meeting was held at the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) office here. TSSIA president M R Khambete said, “No LBT and no octroi should be the mantra in the state. The delegates demanded that the decision to do away with the LBT should be announced in the current session of the state legislature itself.”
Bhavesh Maru, secretary of Thane Vyaparudyog Mahasangh (THAM) said if the government fails to take a decision by June 5, agitation would be launched during a congregation in Navi Mumbai on June 7.
