New Delhi: Over the last few years, Android handset makers have come out with every possible variant of display size between 2.5-inches and now 6.3-inches. With each passing month, high-end Android devices in the 4-inch to 4.5-inch range are becoming increasingly scarce and the 5-inch 1080p displays seems to be slowly becoming the norm.
Among the big reasons why consumers prefer a large screen size to a smaller one are the consumer behaviour. What we did with a smartphone has largely changed today as compared to three to five years ago. The current trend involves consumption of lots of content, and a large screen is in demand because of the clarity a large screen offers. As per some statistics: “about 50 million people in the U.S. now watch video on their mobile phones. Fifteen percent of all online video hours globally are viewed on tablets and smartphones.” In addition, a larger screen size is also a boon for the growing number of people for whom the smartphone is the only display in their home, which is particularly true in some emerging and international markets.
