5. Infosys wasn't NR Narayana Murthy's first entrepreneurial venture. It was a company called Softronics, an IT consulting firm that Murthy founded in Pune in 1976.
6. Murthy, a self proclaimed socialist in the mid '70s was jailed for 72 hours in Bulgaria. The experience taught him that entrepreneurship and job creation is the way to alleviate poverty.
7. In a poll conducted by Asiaweek, he was adjudged one of the 50 most powerful people in Asia for 2000. Fifty percent of the respondents in an online poll conducted by The Economic Times voted him the best CEO of India.
