New Delhi: Nokia has officially launched its first Windows Phone phablet in India, the Lumia 1520, at a 'best buy price' of Rs. 46,999. The phone will be available in four colours - yellow, black, red, and white. The phone runs Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 with Lumia Black and comes with the third Live Tile column in the Start menu.The Lumia 1520 is Nokia's latest effort to conquer the big-smartphone world. The 1520 has a massive, 6-inch 1080p display and is the first Nokia device to use Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 800 processor. This makes it the speediest Windows Phone around. The Nokia Lumia 1520 comes with 6-inch full-HD (1080x1920) LCD display, the biggest seen on a Nokia phone yet and sports a 20-megapixel PureView camera accompanied by dual-LED flash.Here are seven big features of Nokia Lumia 1520:1. First full-HD Windows Phone Nokia is taking Windows Phone to another level with a full HD 1080p display. Up until now Windows Phone devices have been capped at 5-inch, 720p displays, but with the arrival of Update 3 for Windows Phone 8, all the new possibilities will come up. The 1520 comes with an IPS rather than AMOLED screen. It's a 6in model with a 1,920x1,080 resolution, and there are significant image quality differences between the Lumia 1520 and 1020's displays. The screen also has sunlight readability enhancements. 2. Quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processorThe 1520 is super-fast, thanks to its quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. It is the fastest processor we've seen in a Windows Phone 8 handset, and the operating system simply flies. The smartphone completed the Sunspider JavaScript benchmark in an incredibly fast 536ms, which makes it almost twice as quick as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in this test. The phone makes web browsing extremely easy and zooming in and out and surfing the web pages is a breeze. Due to the phone's large size and resolution, users can easily read web pages when fully zoomed out. The 1520 also completed the GFXBench T-Rex test with an average frame rate of 25fps, which is essentially the same as the 26fps we saw from the Galaxy Note 3. In addition, running 3D games is also a whole lot easier in Lumia 1520.3. Third Live Tile column in homescreen The new introduction brings more to view on the homescreen. The Nokia Lumia 1520 becomes the one of the first Windows Phone to feature the third Live Tile column on the homescreen. 4. MusicThe phone comes with the 'Music + Videos' app. The app lets you filter your music by album, song or artist - which in each case will present you with an alphabetical list of your stored music complete with album images if you choose to sort by album. Additionally, you can also find all of your music from a specific genre and create playlists. The apps has pretty easy navigation, though it does little to stand out from any other music player. While playing the music, some music controls appear on your lockscreen, letting you easily pause or skip track. The Nokia Lumia 520 supports WAV, MP3, WMA, and eAAC+. It can also pump music out of its tiny speakers at a surprising volume without any distortion, though there's not really any bass. 5. Pureview camera The Lumia 1520 comes with a PureView camera. The Lumia 1520's 20-megapixel camera is a scaled-down version of the 41-megapixel PureView camera included on the Lumia 1020. The sensor is a fairly large 1/2.5-inch in size, but it's smaller than the 1/1.5-inch chip in the 1020, and the lens is a smaller f/2.4 aperture. The flash is a dual-LED unit as opposed to the Xenon flash on the 1020. This results in slimmer and smaller camera module that is not nearly as capable in low light. The 1520 also offers the ability to re-crop and reframe a photo after the fact and zoom in slightly without loss of quality. However, the phone lags in slow autofocus and slow shot time. The 1520 saves two versions of every image, a 5-megapixel one for sharing and a 19-megapixel image for cropping.Overall, the 1520 takes pretty decent pictures in good lighting and sometimes even in difficult lighting. The phone comes with Nokia's litany of unique camera apps can make picture-taking pretty fun. The latest one, Refocus, lets you control the focus point of an image after it is taken, mimicking the Lytro light field camera. 6. Nokia Beamer app The app lets users to share content to any HTML5 enabled device. Users can share contents like images, documents, location details and even camera viewfinder from the Lumia 1520 to any compatible screen through social media, emails as well as SMS. 7. Nokia Storyteller app The Nokia Storyteller app organizes clicked images into stories with chronological order using HERE location details. Users can also check for details and reviews of a location on HERE map using the Storyteller app. The app has also been introduced on Lumia 1320 and Lumia 2520 tablet.
