Mumbai: Copra Rajapur prices shot up further at the spices market here today due to heavy demand from stockists and bulk consumers on the back of reduced arrivals.


Amid strong upcountry and corporate buying, severe shortage of coconut owing to adverse weather conditions also contributed to the significant rise in prices of copra, a trader commented.

Elsewhere, copra edible also surged on good retail buying support.

However, rest all spices closed at their overnight levels in the absence of any worthwhile demand.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai jumped by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 16,000 from Monday's closing level of Rs 15,500 and copra edible Mumbai rose by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 12,500 as against Rs 12,200 previously.

Black pepper (per kg) 770/815 (770/815), ginger bleached (per kg)  350 (350), ginger unbleached (per kg) 370 (370, copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 10,700 (10,700), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 10,600 (10,600), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,000 (15,500), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 12,500 (12,200).
