The Pulsar 200 SS comes with a 200 cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine which produces 23.52 PS (23.18 bhp) and 18.3 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox transmits the power. It remains to be seen whether the faired model will be equipped with fuel-injection system or continue with the 200 NS' carburetor setup.
On the other hand, the SS 400 borrows the KTM 390′s 373 cc single-cylinder unit and is expected to produce power in the vicinity of 40 PS (39.4 bhp).
The SS series comes with attractively designed seats reflecting the sportiness of the bike, but the pillion seat isn't at a steep incline.
With Pulsar 200 SS the company hopes to replicate the success of Pulsar 200 NS. When the latter was launched, it outsold the Duke 200 as it offered similar levels of performance, but at lower price and with a familiar name. The 200 SS will be a more easy to live with version of the KTM RC 200.
The bike is likely to cost to the tune of Rs 1.20-1.35 lakh.
