New Delhi: Lamborghini has launched its new V10 powered Huracan LP 610-4 in India, at Rs 3.43 crore. Huracan replaces the aging and best selling Gallardo model from the company.
The overall silhouette is not too different from the Gallardo it replaces. The front takes cues from the Aventador. The car's incredibly low and wide stance is emphasized by quad exhausts and slim rear lights. A ‘flying' C-pillar and huge intakes in the side sills help to cool the engine and brakes.
To offer more stability to the vehicle, the Huracan is built on a hybrid aluminum/carbon fiber frame/chassis, which is 10 per cent lighter and 50 per cent stiffer than that of the Gallardo. Sheet metal is of aluminum and composite material. The car has a kerb weight of 1,422 kg and sits on 20” Pirelli wheels.
Huracan measures 4,459 mm in length, 2,236 mm in width and stands 1,165 mm tall while sitting on a wheelbase of 2,620 mm.
The car is powered by a 5.2 litre,V10 mill and produces a maximum power output of 610 PS at 8250 rpm and 560 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. Power is driven to all four wheels via a 7-speed LDF dual clutch automatic transmission.
Lamborghini claims the Huracan takes 3.2 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h, and 9.9 seconds to do 0-200 km/h. The car hits an electronically limited top whack of 325 km/h. For the stopping power, the car uses a hydraulic dual-circuit brake system with a vacuum brake servo unit, six-piston calipers at the front, four-piston calipers at the rear.
Lamborghini has also fitted a start/stop function for improved CO2 emissions, the V10 powered Huracan is claimed to emit 290 g/km.
The Huracan's ground clearance of 135 mm can be raised to 175 mm to tackle bad roads and speed breakers.
On the inside the focal point is the steering wheel, where you'll find an indicator switch, washer and wiper controls, a button for the high-beam headlights and a switch to toggle you through the three driving modes – Strada, Sport and Corsa. Behind the steering wheel is a pair of much larger paddles. The Huracan uses a new seven-speed dual-clutch auto which Lamborghini claims enables “virtually imperceptible gearshifts without any interruption in torque.”
The car has an electromechanical steering which is fitted with a variable ratio system called Dynamic Steer. It adjusts the steering ratio according to the speed your travelling at and the driving mode you've selected.
Lamborghini's latest offering, which made its global debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, is set to make its mark among exotic super car buyers in India. In its segment, Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 chief competitors are Ferrari 458 Italia/Spider and McLaren 650S Coupe/Spider all of which are not yet launched in India.
