The Bank of England, established in 1694, is the central bank of the United Kingdom. Besides being the oldest bank of the world, it is also the second oldest central bank in the world. Having its headquarters in London's main financial district, on Threadneedle Street, it is also known as the 'The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street or The Old Lady'.
